CONGRATS TO CHEYENNE ELLIS: Congrats to Cheyenne Ellis for winning the St. Joseph News-Press poll for Girls Softball Player of the Year! Thanks to everyone who voted yesterday to put her at 47% of the total vote!!! Pound it for Benton!!!
THE DROWSY CHAPERONE: Be sure to attend opening night of Benton's fall musical "The Drowsy Chaperone" on Friday, November 12th! Doors open at 7 PM and admission is $7! The play will also run on November 13th, 19th, and 20th!
QUIZ BOWL MEETING: All students involved in Quiz Bowl and anyone interested in becoming involved, please stop by the library after school on Monday, November 15th for a short meeting after school. We need to discuss a consistent monring/afternoon practice schedule now that play practice is ending! Our first tournament will be December 4th, so be sure to attend!
NATIONAL GAMING DAY @ YOUR LIBRARY: Gaming? At the library? You bet! Be sure to stop by the library on Monday, November 15th, for board games, puzzles, and more throughout the day! After school, we'll have a meeting of the OASIS gaming club to play Wii! If you're not an OASIS member but would like to be, be sure to join on Monday!
OASIS GAMING CLUB: OASIS will meet on Monday, November 15th immediately after school to celebrate National Gaming Day and to accommodate students in the play. Be sure to check with Mrs. Corey about what games/equipment to bring. We will also meet on Thursday, November 18th, as per our schedule.
CARDINALS READ BOOK CLUB: Cardinals Read will hold a meeting after school on Monday, November 22nd. This month, please read one of the Gateway Reader's Award nominees and bring it to share with the group! To see a selection of nominees, please check the bulletin board outside the library. See Mrs. Corey if you have any questions. Popcorn will be provided!!!
TSA MEETING: There will be a mandatory TSA meeting in room 108 on Tuesday November 16th after school at 2:45 PM. Any student involved in Industrial Technology classes that is interested can attend. It will last approximately 30 minutes. If you want to be in TSA but can't make the meeting stop by and talk to Mr. Langner so that you can be signed up.
NHS MEETING: The National Honor Society meeting for this Thursday, November 11 has been moved to Thursday, November 18. We will be making plans for the Thanksgiving baskets at that time so make sure that your are in Room A114 at 7 AM on Thursday, November 18. If you have questions, please see Ms. Sherard or Ms. Bosworth.
TO SAVE A LIFE MOVIE: Fellowship of Christian Athletes invites all students to attend a showing of "To Save a Life" on Wednesday, November 10 at Potter Theatre on the MWSU campus. DRUG FREE SUPER STAR: Seniors - pick up a Drug Free Super Star Application (S.T.A.R.) from Mrs. Fox or Ms. Hochenauer in the Counseling Center. Application due November 16th!! The purpose of this program is for high school students to serve as drug free role models for the elementary school students. Six students, one boy and one girl from each season, will be selected to give presentations to our five feeder schools. See your counselor for more information.
YOUTH BASKETBALL PROGRAM: There are 75 positions open for the Youth Recreational Basketball Program this fall. Clinics will be held for employees on November 13th and 20th at the Muchenberger Center and the season begins on November 29th. Program runs on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Please call 816-271-5500 for more information.
BOOK REVIEWS = BORDERS GIFT CARDS: Students! The library is looking for student book reviews for our blog and we need YOU! Get a book review form in the library, fill it out according to the criteria, and you'll be entered for a chance at a $10 Borders gift card if your review is selected! We'll feature one review a month on our blog so review away! NOTE: These are PRINT reviews, not VIDEO reviews!
MWSU DEADLINE: Priority deadline for Admissions is November 15, 2010. In order to meet the priority deadline you must have turned into MWSU a completed application, ACT score, & high school transcript.

CHANCELLOR'S SCHOLARSHIP AT MISSOURI S&T: If you are a senior, Have been accepted at Missouri S&T, GPA 3.75 or higher, ACT score 30 or higher, you may qualify! Deadline to apply is October 25, 2010. See your counselor or Ms. Hochenauer for details.
CONSIDERING MIZZOU?: December 1, 2010 is the scholarship priority deadline for Mizzou. Scholarship application for entering Mizzou freshman students can be found online at financialaid.missouri.edu.
KSTATE UNIV ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP: Seniors interested in engineering, GPA 3.60 of higher, ACT score 29 or higher qualify. Must apply for scholarship by November 1, 2010 at www.k-state.edu/admit/apply. See your counselor or Ms. Hochenauer for details.

UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI BUSINESS SCHOLARSHIPS:Seniors if you are going to Mizzou & are majoring in business check out the available scholarships at www.business.missouri.edu/scholarships. Completed applications must be submitted by 2/1/2011.
AMERICAN LEGION SCHOLARSHIPS: You must be a decedent of a veteran with at least 90 days of active service in the U.S. Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, or Coast Guard, who received honorable discharge for such service.
