STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

ACT: Friday, Sept 19th is the deadline to sign up for the October 25th ACT. Anyone interested in taking the test needs to see your counselor to sign up. Students receiving free/reduced lunch, or in the Upward Bound Program are allowed 2 fee waivers during their junior and/or senior year to be able to take the test for free. If you are interested in receiving a fee waiver, contact your counselor by the Friday deadline.

Congratulations to the girl's tennis team in their win against Maryville, 9-0 on Monday. Good job, girls.

Don’t forget to return your survey to your English teachers as soon as possible. THEY ARE DUE NOW!!!! When you return your survey your name goes into a drawing for an IPOD.

FCA will meet on Friday, September 19th at 7 AM in room A123

Outside Dates for the Homecoming Dance must sign up in the West Office (Mrs. Miller and Mrs. Silvey). The cost is $4 per person.

Homecoming shirts will be here Thursday Morning in Mr. Reigert's room A120, Mr. Reigert will be here at 7:00 am for you early birds. Cost is $14 per shirt.

Sign up for Cardinal Olympics is still "happening" in Mr. Reigert’s room A120. Cardinal Olympics are Friday Sept 19th at 1:30.

A+ SCHOOLS PROGRAM: A+ tutor training will be Thursday, September 18th at 2:50 p.m. in room A3. Please remember that tutors must attend one training. If you have any questions, stop by the A+ Office in the library.

Oct. 9th the Health Express will be here doing sports physicals for $10.00. Sign up now in the nurse's office.

Job announcements are available in the Counseling Center. Openings will be posted the beginning of every week. Questions? See Mrs. Arambula.

Interserv Daycare at Wesley Center has a job opening for Mon-Fri from 3:00 to 5:30. You must be 18 to apply. See the Job Postings board in the Counseling Center.

Drama Club will host an ice-breaker event on Tuesday, September 23rd from 6:00-7:00 at Hyde Park. If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Schultz in room 102.

Any junior that is interested in being on Prom Committee please sign up in room 209. We will close the sign ups on Sept. 19th. Questions? See Mrs. Misner or Mrs. Tami Davis in room 209

Benton’s Academic Team: For more information about Quiz Bowl, please stop by Mr. Carter’s Room A112 to sign-up.

Pumpkin Fest: Volunteers are needed for this year’s event, which is October 10th, 11th, and 12th. Please see Mrs. Arambula in the Counseling Center.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Hyde Elementary needs volunteers to help with their school carnival on Friday, October 3rd 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Check with the A+ Office in the Benton Library for details.

The wellness clinic is scheduled for Tues. Oct 14th 7-10:30 AM. See the nurse to schedule your apt. the cost is $10.00.

Apple Seed grant forms are available and are being accepted in our office. The deadline is October 3, 2008. Hard copies of the application form are going out to the buildings in the inter-school mail today. Teachers may also access the form on the SJSD website, under SJSD Foundation, Applications.

Teams of teachers applying may not consist of more than three people and one of the team must be identified as the lead teacher, responsible for purchase orders and final summaries. Also, counselors and librarians may co-apply when teamed with one or more classroom teachers.
