ROTC CONGRATS: Congratulations to ROTC for the great performance and participation in the Veterans Day activities. Citizens from the community sent a letter commending your service each year with the program. Thank you to those who took part and represented Benton High School.

UPWARD BOUND CANCELED: After School tutoring for today for Upward Bound students has been canceled. It will resume next Monday, November 30th, as normal.

QUIZ BOWL THANKS AND CONGRATS: The Quiz Bowl team would like to thank the students and staff that helped run our tournament at Benton this weekend. The tournament was an absolute success. We'd also like to recognize freshman Zach Bailey who placed 10th out of ninety competitors at a recent quiz bowl tournament at Lexington High School.

NHS THANKSGIVING: All NHS students that signed up for Thanksgiving Adopt-a-Family, must see either Ms. Sherard or Ms. Bosworth by Tuesday morning. We will meet Wednesday after school to pick up the meals and other items to deliver Wednesday after school to the families.

CONGRATS TO CROSS COUNTRY: Congratulations to the four members of the Cross Country Team for their efforts in the State Cross Country Championships Saturday in Jefferson City. John Beamon ran the race of his career and missed earning All-State Honors by only 11 places. Blayr Bolton was equally successful and missed All-State Honors by 14 places and finished with the 8th highest place at State in Benton Girls Cross Country history. Taylor Woodruff positioned herself well early in the race and finished with a strong performance. Kain Ellis also positioned himself well early in the race and finished as the 7th fastest freshman in state.

STUDENT COUNCIL MEETING: On Wednesday, November 11th, there will be a student Council Meeting at 7 AM in room A120 , Mr. Reigert's Room. It is imperative ALL MEMBERS attend.

ACT TEST DATE: Students, sign up now to take the ACT on December 12th. Deadline to register is TODAY. Please see your counselor or Mrs. Hitch for more information. If you are a Junior and you are college bound, you must take the ACT before the end of your Junior year or you will miss important deadlines next year.

COTILLION APPLICATION: To those of you who are applying for Cotillion: You must have your final copy of the Scholarship application turned in to Mrs. Turner by TODAY.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS BASKETBALL: Practice for Special Olympics Basketball will begin this Saturday! If you are interested in playing please stop by room 100 and sign up with Coach Bosch!

ALL-SCHOOL PLAY: The all-school play, "The Importance of Being Earnest" has changed performance dates. Mark your calendars for November 13th, 14th, 20th and 21st, so you don't miss this great show!

FCCLA PENNY WARS: FCCLA is challenging all students to bring their pennies to CAMP. All monies will be donated to the United Way. The CAMP that has donated the greatest amount of money will be treated to ice cream!!!

MISSOURI FINE ARTS ACADEMY: Any student who wishes to find out more information about the Missouri Fine Arts Academy which is a 3 week summer residential program for artistically gifted students, should see Mrs. Turner or their Fine Arts Instructor. A student may apply in one of the following areas: Dance, Vocal Music, Instrumental Music, Theatre, or Visual Arts.

CELL PHONE POLICY MEETING: Any student interested in discussing possible changes to Benton's cell phone policy should plan to meet in the library TODAY at 3 PM. All students are invited to have input and discussion with the administration prior to any cell phone policy changes.

SPRING BASEBALL MEETING: Attention all boys going out for baseball this spring! There is a mandatory meeting in Room 112, Coach Musser's room, immediately after school TODAY. The meeting will last 30 minutes and will start at 2:55 PM. We will have a sign in sheet for everyone to sign.

SOFTBALL PIZZA PARTY: The end of year softball pizza party will be at the Sandlot TONIGHT at 7 pm. Pizza an water will be provided for all players. Please sign the list in room 306 if you are attending.

VOLLEYBALL HONORS: Congratulations to Karli Sample and Krystin King for being selected to the Volleyball All-City First Team AND Breonna Embray and Katie Graves for their selection to the All-City Second Team. Way to represent the South Side, ladies!

HEISMAN SCHOLARSHIP: Congratulations to Karli Sample and Logan Shryock. They won the Wendy's High School Heisman Award for our school. Karli has also been selected as a Wendy's Heisman State Finalist! Good luck Karli!
