TODAY IS A WHITE DAY
CARDINAL WORD OF THE DAY: Tare (noun) - a deduction from the gross weight of a substance and its container made in allowance for the weight of the container. Factoring in a tare weight of 10,000 pounds for the trailer, the weigh station determined the 18-wheeler was over its cargo limit.
YEARBOOKS: All fees must be paid before you can get your yearbook! Seniors will get their yearbooks after the Senior Slideshow on May 11th. Underclassmen will get their yearbooks during CAMP on May 13th. Get your fees paid!!!
TENNIS MEETING: There will be a meeting after school Monday, May 9th in room A116 for all girls who are interested in playing on the tennis team in the fall. If you cannot make the meeting, please see Ms. Herbert.
BOYS BASKETBALL MEETING: There will be a BRIEF MEETING FOR ALL THE BOY'S BASKETBALL TEAM immediately after school on Friday, May 6th. The meeting will be held in Springer Gymnasium. All those who plan to go out for Basketball this Fall should attend this meeting.
ACT REGISTRATION: Regular registration for the June ACT ends on May 6th. See your counselor if you need help with registration.
ACT ACADEMY: The St. Joseph School district is offering an ACT Academy for those who are taking the ACT on June 11th. The Academy will be held each day, June 6 - 10 from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. In order to enroll in the academy, you must pick up an application in the counseling center ASAP.
ACT APPS: ACT prep apps for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch users are now available through the App Store. ACT Student is a free app that allows you to take practice questions, view your ACT registration status, view scores, print admission ticket, and learn about test info. ACT College Search is a free app that lets you focus and narrow your prospects for postsecondary education.
LIFEGUARD CLASSES: YMCA will be offering Lifeguard Certification class during the month of May. Pre-test is Monday, May 9th at 6:30 pm or by appointment. Class runs May 19 through May 28th. All training is at YMCA, 315 S. 6th St. For more information call 233-9622.
MARINE BIOLOGY: The Marine Biology process is starting again! There will be an informational meeting about the program Thursday, May 5th at 7:00 pm at Webster Learning Center. PROM COMMITTEE FOR 2012: Sophomores who want to be on the 2011 - 2012 Prom Committee need to sign up with Ms. Sherard in Room A114 before Friday, May 6. Please come in to see her before or after school to sign up.
PROJECT GRADUATION: Project Graduation begins Sunday, May 22nd, check-in at East Hills Library Parking lot from 10 to 11 PM, and lasts until 5:00 AM the morning of May 23rd! Tickets go on sale May 1st (make checks payable to Project Graduation) in your school office. Come for PRIZES, GAMES, FOOD, FUN, including Hypnotist, DJ, Mechanical Bull Riding & Surf's Up Ride, Sports Tournaments, and more!
HEY ATHLETES: Do you need a sports physical? Health Express will be here on Monday, May 16th (AM only). If you get your physical done on this day you won't have to worry about it over the summer. It will be good for the whole next school year! For more information and to sign up, please see Mrs. Stephenson (the nurse). Cost is $15, payable by cash or check only.
LIBRARY BOOKS ARE DUE: All library books (and other materials) will be due back on Friday, May 13th! Be sure to get your books returned as soon as possible! Once your library account is cleared and all materials are returned, you'll receive a FREE piece of candy from library staff! Check your locker, closet, under your bed, under your friend's bed, etc. for your books! Any unreturned books will be considered lost and will be charged on fee sheets for next school year! Be sure to check with library staff ASAP and get your account cleared to receive your FREE piece of candy!

ONE-ACT PLAY FESTIVAL: The one-act festival will be presented May 6th and 7th at 7:00. Tickets are $5 for one night or $8 for both nights. The festival will feature 9 student written plays (4 Friday night and 5 Saturday night) all directed by students. Don't miss out on this exciting weekend of original productions!
