OVERNIGHT LAPTOP CHECKOUT: If you have checked out a library laptop overnight, you MUST return the laptop PRIOR to the start of first hour! You cannot keep a laptop during school hours at ANY time. You will receive one warning the next time a laptop is not returned. The following time your checkout privileges will be REVOKED. The only exceptions to this rule include days when you are sick or school is not in session, as in a snow day. If you are present your laptop MUST be returned! See Mrs. Corey if you have any questions.
UPWARD BOUND TUTORING: Upward Bound students! After school tutoring will begin on Monday, December 14th, in Room 107. Be sure to stop in and sign in with your tutor.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: Merry Christmas! ‘Tis the season for giving and what better way to do this than to give your time to worthy causes! Come volunteer with the Saint Joseph Youth Alliance! This is a free and fun way to give back to your community. These opportunities are great for individuals, school groups, youth groups, High School students needing hours for graduation, community service, as well as a wonderful family activity! Anyone interested please contact Ms. Hitch in the counseling office for details.
PLAY AND PIE NIGHT: Drama Club will be having Play and Pie Night! We will meet at Lafayette at 6:30 PM TONIGHT to see the musical, "Bye, Bye Birdie." After the show we will go to Perkins. Everyone must purchase their own tickets ($8 at the door or $6 in advance) and provide their own transportation.
CHRISTMAS SPOOKTACULAR: Drama Club will be hosting the Christmas Spooktacular on Thursday, December 17th, from 4:30-8:30 PM in the auditorium. Come in a Halloween costume for the contest and bring a holiday gag gift for the gift exchange. We will watch a Christmas movie and go on a ghost hunt. Bring food and drinks to share.
SALVATION ARMY VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES: There are a number of volunteer opportunities available at the Salvation Army this holiday season, including bell ringing, assembling gift bags, setting up for group dinners, and distributing toys. Please see Mrs. Rucker or call 816-279-2101 for more details.
A+ TUTOR TRAINING: December tutor training sessions will be held on the following dates:
- Wednesday, December 16th, at 7 AM
READ POSTER CAMPAIGN + DRAWING: Students! Be a part of Benton Library's first ever Read poster campaign! Instead of featuring celebrities, we're featuring YOU and your favorite books! Any student who chooses to participate will be entered in a drawing for a $20 Borders bookstore gift card! Simply stop by the library before or after school with a book (or choose one from the shelves) to have your picture taken by Mrs. Corey to be entered to win!
