College scholarship opportunity for grades 9-12, if you are strong in academics and community service. Counselors have just received word that the Best Buy Scholarship is now available for anyone in high school who plans to attend college. Best Buy will award $1500 scholarships to 1000 students, based on their community service and their academic achievement. A+ TUTOR TRAINING will be held on Wednesday, January 28th at 2:50 p.m. in the Library. Please remember that tutors must attend one training. If you have any questions, stop by the A+ Office in the library.
Are you a Junior or Senior and interested in becoming a member of the National Honor Society? Well, you better hurry and pick up your papers in Room A114 or Room 209 because the deadline for turning them in is Friday, January 30, 2009. If you have questions or need help, you may see a member of NHS or Ms. Bosworth or Ms. Sherard.
The YWCA is accepting donations to Cinderella's Closet on Friday January 30th and Saturday January 31st from 1-4 p.m. The Benton Counseling Center will also accept the donations and then deliver them to the YWCA for you. Donations can include New or Gently Used Formal short or long gowns, formal shoes, jewelry or evening purses.
Junior or senior girls that need a dress for prom can pick out a dress at the YWCA on Saturday Feb. 7th from 10-4 p.m. If you have more questions see Mrs. Rucker or call 232-4481.
This is a reminder that all summer Upward Bound Math and Science applications through Northwest Missouri State University are due by January 31st. See Mrs. Arambula if you need assistance.

College Goal Sunday at Missouri Western, Northwest Missouri State University and Maple Woods Comm. College is on February 8th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. This workshop will help you complete the FAFSA form and learn anything else you need to know in order to fund your college education. To find out what you need to take with you to the workshop please see someone in the Counseling Center.
FCA meets every Friday in A123 at 7:00 a.m.
2009 GRADUATES: St. Joseph Tractor is looking for candidates that interested in completing an internship and an Associate Degree in Industrial and Farm Equipment Technician program from Oklahoma State University- Okmulgee. Tuition, fees, and tools will all be paid through a scholarship program. See Mrs. Nelson or Mrs. Arambula for more details. Deadline is Feb. 12, 2009.

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Camp Wonderland is accepting applications for summer employment. Positions include Camp Counselors, Cabin Leaders, and Program Staff. Wonderland Camp is a residential camp for children, teenagers and adults with mental and physical disabilities located at the Lake of the Ozarks. The due date for applications is Feb. 13th. See Mrs. Arambula if you have any questions.
The US Military Academy is having a summer leaders seminar for juniors from May 30-June 5 or June 6-12 at West Point. The cost is $325 plus transportation to
West Point. Application is due April 1st. Apply online at www.admissions.usma.edu.
MWSU is currently enrolling students for their Spring ACT prep course. The course will teach you test-taking strategies and provide a review of each subject area: English, Mathematics, Reading, Science Reasoning. The class will take 5 Saturday sessions from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. starting February 28th. Cost is $141.50. Deadline to enroll is 4:00 p.m. on February 20th.
HOMECOMING NEWS
We will vote for Courtwarming Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior Prince and Princess on Wednesday, January 28th during lunch, 7th period.
COURTWARMING will be Friday February 6th, 2009. The theme will be
“Eatin’ Up Some Chilli”. Courtwarming t-shirts will be on sale soon! Watch for announcements! Any questions see Mr. Reigert or any Student Council Member.
