STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

The Friends of Rachel Club will meet on Thursday morning at 7:11 in Room 206. We will be planning for next year. Everyone is welcome to attend

SLIDE SHOW PICTURES are due by Friday, May 8th so pleae put your name on the backs of the pictures adn turn them into the principals office or any student counsel members.

Want a fun volunteer job for the summer? Student volunteers are needed to help at Safety Town, a miniature town where children aged 5 to 7 learn safety skills. By volunteering for one session at Safety Town, you will earn 32 volunteer hours. You can use these hours toward your 50 hours of A+ tutoring, or they will satisfy the district’s service requirement. Pick from the following sessions:
June 2‐ 5 (Tuesday – Friday) & June 8‐11 (Monday – Thursday)
Session 1: 7:30 ‐11:30 a.m.
Session 2: 12:30 – 4:30 p.m.
June 15 – 18 & 22 ‐ 25 (Monday – Thursday Both Weeks)
Session 3: 7:30 – 11:30 a.m.
Session 4: 12:30 – 4:30 p.m.

Location: Parkway Elementary School, 2900 Duncan

Pick up a volunteer application in the Counseling Center or from the A+ office. Applications must be returned to the Safety Council by May 15th at the latest.

NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY MEETING: All members should plan to attend the NHS meeting on Tuesday, May 12th at 7:00 a.m. in Room A114. Questions - see Ms. Bosworth or Ms. Sherard

A+ SCHOOLS PROGRAM TUTOR TRAINING: There are only 2 more tutor trainings scheduled before the end of school.
Training takes place in the Benton Library on the following dates:

Friday, May 15th - 7:00 a.m.
Tuesday, May 19th - 2:50 p.m.
Check with the A+ Office for details on tutoring opportunities available this summer.

Summer school applications have arrived in the counseling center. Pick up the forms in the counseling center and return them to your counselor if you plan to sign up for summer school. The following classes are offered:

Communications Arts
Social Studies
Math
Science
Personal Finance
Fit for Life
Marketing Internship
Photography
Foods,Nutrition, Wellness

If you have failed one of your core classes, you should sign up for summer school to keep you on track for graduation. If you will be a junior or senior and plan to take Marketing and a Marketing Internship next year, you should sign up with Mr. Musser for the summer Marketing Internship class. The hours you work during the summer will count for the class next fall. You can only count the hours if you sign up for the summer class. Check with Mr. Musser if you have questions.

The deadline to sign up for the June ACT is May 8th. You can pick up a packet in the counseling center or sign up online at www.actstudent.org.

MAY 21st Health Express will be here doing sports physicals for next year. The cost will be $10.00 this time. June 1st the cost goes up to $15.00. Please see the school nurse to sign up.

SENIORS: There will be a mandatory Senior Service Day on Tuesday, May 26th that will count toward your community service requirement to graduate.

Benton National Honor Society program will be shown on Channel 41 on the following days and times:
May 4 through 10

7:00 p.m.

Attention Students and Staff Please help out the Science Club and Donate. Just let us know, and we will carry it up, pick it up, whatever we have to do - we really want this to be a success for the kids.

SCIENCE CLUB GARAGE SALE will be in the Modis Gym, May 9th from 8-3 p.m., It will be a fun way to raise money for our kids. They will also be selling hotdogs, popcorn and lemonade

SUMMER EMPLOYMENT: Are you looking for a summer job or an internship opportunity? The new Next Generation Jobs Team is for youth and young adults, ages 16-24 who want to make this summer a time for exploring the next generation of 21st Century industries. Go to www.summerjobs.mo.gov or see Mrs. Arambula in the Counseling Center.

MISSOURI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will hold the 13th statewide leadership development workshop for current freshmen. Workshop will be in Mexico, Missouri July 8-10. It is a great opportunity to develop decision-making and leadership skills. Please see Mrs. Arambula if you are interested.
