TODAY IS A WHITE DAY

CARDINAL WORD OF THE DAY: Flotsam (noun) - miscellaneous or unimportant stuff. The couple's apartment was adorned with flotsam and jetsam from thrift stores.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: If any students are interested in volunteering for the Hall Elementary Carnival on September 8th, please see Ms. Hochenauer. You can work any shifts from 4:30-8:30, or the entire time. This will count towards 10 hours of community service needed to graduate.

MISSOURI UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY CHANCELLOR'S SCHOLARSHIP: Requirements: GPA 3.75 or better, ACT score of 30 or better, the application can be downloaded from sfa.mst.edu. Application must be postmarked by Nov 1, 2011.

KANSAS STATE UNIVERSITY ENGINEERING SCHOLARSHIP DAY SEMINAR: Monday, October 10, 2011. Must preregister at www.engg.ksu.edu/scholarshipday by Sept. 30 to attend the Seminar. This seminar is designed to assist students & parents in understanding the scholarship program & application process for seniors interested in engineering. ACT ACADEMY APPLICATIONS: ACT Academy applications for the academy running the four weeks prior to the October ACT are due to the counseling center by Thursday! Please see the counselors for more information!

GEORGE C. BROOKS SCHOLARSHIP: Named after MU Financial Aid Director, $7,500 for the 2012-2013 school year, Minimum ACT 25. Apply for admission to MU by January 1, 2012. Essay required. See Mrs. Engel or Ms. Hochenauer for more information.

OASIS GAMING CLUB: OASIS will be meeting on this Thursday, September 8th at 5:30 PM in the library! Come to play video games, including Wii, Playstation, and XBOX, and play board and card games! Meeting lasts until 7:30, see Mrs. Corey for more info!

BOOK CLUB MEETING: Want to join a monthly book club? Come to our first meeting in the library next Tuesday, September 13th! Meeting is at 3 PM (or 3:30, we can wait!) until whenever we're done talking about books! This month, bring what you're currently reading! For future months, we'll choose books with a common theme.
