STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

HEARTLAND FOUNDATION is asking for a few minutes of your time today to send a tweet and give us the opportunity to raise $100,000. Hugh Jackman has posted via Twitter (RealHughJackman) that he will be giving $100,000 to one individual's favorite charity. However, you must post it to his twitter account today (RealHughJackman) and use 140 characters or less. Below you will find some sample statements under 140 characters. "SENIOR" Only Student Council Meeting on Wednesday April 22,2009 at 7:00 am.in A120.

SECOND HARVEST is launching a program that will distribute 12,000 lunches to children this summer! There will be 5 part-time positions available to assist with the program. The pay is $7.25 per hour, 12 weeks, 10 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Senior age or above is preferable. Job applications are available in the Counseling Center.

SENIOR VARSITY Letter winners need to pick up a Senior Athletic Resume in the main office and complete by Monday April 27th of next week. Please turn them into Mrs. Miller or Mr. Ziesel by the deadline.

THE B-CLUB BANQUET will be held on May 6th @ the Fulkerson Building on the Missouri Western State University Campus. Only 2009 Varsity letter winners are eligible for this banquet. Information is provided in the Attendance office for those attending. Please take home a letter invitation to your parents for this prestigious event. Reservation deadlines are April 28th (Tuesday) of next week.

SOPHOMORE OR JUNIOR students interested in applying for FMPs for next year, please see Mrs. Liles (odd days) Room 105 or Mrs. Talbot in Room 111 to pick up an application packet. All information will be due on April 24 by 1 p.m. NO EXCEPTIONS. We do not know how this program will work next year. You will not be guaranteed a Cadet Training hour and/or numbers may be limited.

HOSEA IS LOOKING for volunteers for the Hosea Carnival, this Saturday, April 25th from 9:00-3:00. Please see Mrs. Arambula if you would like to volunteer.

SENIORS - It is crucial for you to turn in your community service hours immediately. I only have a few student hours recorded. If you are in need of community service hours please see Mrs. Arambula. There will be a mandatory Senior Service Day on Tuesday, May 26th that will count toward your community service requirement to graduate.

WESTERN STATE UNIVERSITY 2009 Summer Research Institute June 1st - July 24th with an opportunity to work as part of a research team with a faculty member & MWSU student. Research teams include Biology, English, Foreign Language & Journalism, Mathematics and Nursing. If interested in being a part of one of these teams, see Mrs. Arambula.

COLLEGES VISITING BENTON: Any student interested in attending needs to sign up in the counseling office by the end of the day prior to the visit.

MISSOURI CHAMBER OF COMMERCE will hold the 13th statewide leadership development workshop for current freshmen. Workshop will be in Mexico, Missouri July 8-10. It is a great opportunity to develop decision-making and leadership skills. Please see Mrs. Arambula if you are interested.
