HOMECOMING DANCE: A Homecoming Dance will be held on Friday night following the game. Music will be provided by Night Majic and the cost is $5 per person. Remember that any outside dates must be pre-approved in the office!

HOMECOMING SPIRIT DAYS: Next week's spirit days are as follows:

MONDAY: Sports Team/Monday Night Basketball Day
  • Seniors: Dress up as your favorite sports team!
  • Juniors: Dress up as a referee!
  • Sophomores: Dress up as crazy fans!
  • Freshmen: Dress up as bench warmers!
  • Teachers: Dress up as the water boy!
TUESDAY: Safari/Survivor Day
  • Dress like a contest on the TV show Survivor or like you're on an African safari!
WEDNESDAY: TV Show Day
  • Seniors: Dress up as a character from That 70's Show!
  • Juniors: Dress up as a character from Made!
  • Sophomores: Dress up as a character from Scrubs!
  • Freshmen: Dress up as a character from Rugrats!
  • Teachers: Dress up as a character from The Office!
THURSDAY: Dress Up "Nice" Day
  • Wear your finest dress clothes to beautify the school!
FRIDAY: Cardinal Spirit Day
  • Show your school spirit by wearing red and black Cardinals gear!
BENTON BOOK CLUB: Benton's Book Club will meet on Monday, January 25th, at 7 PM in the Borders Cafe. Bring the book you are currently reading or an old favorite to share with the group. Students and teachers are welcome to attend.

STAR ATHLETE APPLICATION: Any senior interested in applying for the STAR athlete, please pick up your application from Ms. Sherard. Applications may be picked up beginning Monday, January 25th, and must be returned by Friday, February 5th. You must be a senior, be drug/alcohol free and be involved in a MSHAA sponsored activity. If you have questions, please see Ms. Sherard in Room A114 on even days or in the A+ office on odd days.

UMKC SCHOLARSHIP DEADLINE: If you are planning to attend UMKC next year, the deadline to apply and be considered for Automatic Freshman scholarships is February 1st.

GOLDEN GRIFFON SCHOLARSHIP: If you are planning to attend Missouri Western and have at least a 27 on the ACT, the deadline to apply for the Golden Griffon Scholarship is Jan 23rd.

UNITED WAY VOLUNTEERING: Have you ever been to the pool at the YMCA? Or played basketball at the Wesley Center? Were you a Boy Scout or Girl Scout? These programs and more are supported by United Way. Learn more about these agencies and give back to your community all at the same time by serving as a United Way allocations volunteer. The time commitment is 10-15 hours over a 3 month period. For more information, contact Mrs. Hitch by January 25th.

TURN IT IN FOR THE WIN CONTEST: Any time you check out a book and have NO overdues this month, you'll be entered to win your choice of either The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins or a book from the Chronicles of Vladmir Tod series by Heather Brewer, plus a bag o' free stuff. See library staff for details and don't forget to participate in our ongoing Read @ Benton Poster Campaign!
