TODAY IS A WHITE DAY

NROTC SCHOLARSHIP INFO MEETING: Seniors, composite ACT score of 22 or better, in good academic standing, involved in extra-curricular activities, prepared to get in good physical shape, interested in learning more about the NROTC Scholarship Opportunity. Stop by the counseling center before Sept. 20th to sign up for the informational meeting that will be held Sept. 22 during CAMP.

PICTURE RETAKES: Students, if you have not had your photo take for the yearbook or need to have photos re-taken, contact J. McBee Portrait Gallery to make an appointment. The last day to be photographed and placed in the yearbook is Monday, October 3, 2011. Photos will be taken at their studio on the North Belt Highway. FBLA MEETING: Next Thursday at 7:05 AM the first FBLA meeting will be held in room 211. See Mr. Turner or Mrs. Talbot if you have questions. This is an excellent opportunity to develop leadership skills and get involved in the business community.

SOCCER GIRLS LISTEN UP: Any girl interested in playing girls soccer in the Spring will need to attend a VERY short meeting WEDNESDAY - September 14th directly after school in room 106. Room 106 is the foods room directly to your left when you enter the back main doors to the school. The meeting will be short and sweet and so that you can get to your fall sports practices on time! If you have any questions or can not attend the meeting, please see Coach Bosch in room 216.

JPOBS - JUST PLAN ON BIBLE STUDY: JPOBS is a student-led Bible study that takes place on Friday mornings at 7 AM in Mr Snider's room, A123. Come hang out and dig into God's word with us!

JOIN PTSA: On this Thursday, the PTSA will have a booth during lunch time for membership sign ups for the 2011-12 school year. Many incentives are being offered this year. Check out this opportunity to joine the PTSA.

HOMECOMING T-SHIRTS: Homecoming T-Shirts will be for sale! If you want shirts that actually kind of look cool, send in your T-shirt designs to Mr. Knight, as a pdf or jpeg! Winner of this contest will have their design printed on ALL the shirts! If you have any questions, ask Mr. Knight in room A3. The deadline for shirt designs are Friday September 16th.

ROYALTY ELECTIONS: Freshmen, Sophomores, Juniors, Seniors, Its time to see who will RULE the SCHOOL! If you want to run for king or queen, sign up with Mrs. Fry in the office! Princes and princesses, sign up in Mr. Knights room, A3! Students, you can ONLY sign yourselves up! DO NOT sign up your friends! Preliminary vote will be the 16th, final votes will be the 27th. You can't win, if you do not sign up!

POWDERPUFF FOOTBALL: Girls! It’s our turn to man up and play some football! Sign up for powderpuff football in Mr. Knights room, and get a copy of the rules and regulations from him! The game is going to be Wed the 28th Starting at 6:00pm on the Sparks field!

CONGRATS TO GIRLS TENNIS: Congratulations to the girls tennis team for their 6-3 win over Maryville yesterday. Their next match is on today at 4pm against Cameron at the Noyes Tennis Complex.

CONGRATS TO CROSS COUNTRY: Congratulations to the Cross Country Team for their efforts in the Maryville Invitational. The Boys Varsity ran an exceptional race in finishing 2nd place. Kain Ellis battled one of the top runners in State the entire race and eventually finished 2nd. Hunter Gregg, Aaron Shannon, and Keegan Cunningham ran strong races to earn medals. The Girls Varsity finished 3rd with excellent medal finishes by Lucy Mollett and Skyler Glawson . The Boys J.V. were led by top 10 medal performances from Mitchell German and Andrew Zackus . The J.V. Girls were paced by Felicia Holliday.

NHS MEETING: There will be a meeting this Wednesday, August 31 for all current NHS members. The meeting will be held in Room A114. It will begin promptly at 7. Please make plans to be there. If there is a problem, please see Ms. Sherard before Wednesday morning.

PROJECT GRADUATION: Project Graduation begins Sunday, May 22nd, check-in at East Hills Library Parking lot from 10 to 11 PM, and lasts until 5:00 AM the morning of May 23rd! Come for PRIZES, GAMES, FOOD, FUN, including Hypnotist, DJ, Mechanical Bull Riding & Surf's Up Ride, Sports Tournaments, and more! Project Graduation tickets can be purchased from Ms. Sherard in Room A114. See her to purchase your ticket before or after school.

BASEBALL PLAYERS: All Freshman and JV baseball players are required to have all equipment turned in to their respective coaches and the $14 balance paid for their sweatshirts by Wednesday. Any problems see Coach Musser.

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: Kiwanis of St. Joseph is selling buttons for Trails West as a fundraiser and the funds that we raise will help to pay for our Coats for Kids program. We are looking for student volunteers and would like to see if Benton would have any students that need some volunteer hours. It would be during Trails West weekend which is August 19th, 20th and 21st and you could get in 2-4 service hours. Also, the students will have to be at least 15 years of age. Please see Ms. Hochenauer in the counseling center to sign up.

ACT Student is a free app that allows you to take practice questions, view your ACT registration status, view scores, print admission ticket, and learn about test info. ACT College Search is a free app that lets you focus and narrow your prospects for postsecondary education.

LIFEGUARD CLASSES: YMCA will be offering Lifeguard Certification class during the month of May. Pre-test is Monday, May 9th at 6:30 pm or by appointment. Class runs May 19 through May 28th. All training is at YMCA, 315 S. 6th St. For more information call 233-9622.

ACT ACADEMY: The St. Joseph School district is offering an ACT Academy for those who are taking the ACT on June 11th. The Academy will be held each day, June 6 - 10 from 8:00 am - 12:00 pm. In order to enroll in the academy, you must pick up an application in the counseling center ASAP.
