STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

Benton Boys Soccer Team is to meet in room A3 immediately after school for A+ Tutorting.

CONGRATULATIONS to the Cross Country team for their efforts in the Lafayette Invitational yesterday at Krug Park. John Beamon led the varsity boys with strong support from Jordan Bolton and Ryno Relford earning medals. Taylor Woodruff raced to a third place finish in the varsity girls with Blayr Bolton also running to a medal finish. Brandon Parker, Brian McIntosh, and Bryson Sauter all earned medals in the J.V. Boys race. Eden Woodbury, Lauren Johnson, and Amber Boller ran to a medal finish in the girls J.V. race. Casey Easter and C.J. Snapp led the freshmen boys with strong medal runs with Kegan Cunningham, Logan Amador, Randy Armstrong, and Dakota Slagle also earning medals.

Mrs. Arambula needs 6 volunteers for the My Success Event on Oct. 8th and 9th from 9:00-1:15. If you are a junior or senior and do not have core classes during one of these dates please see Mrs. Arambula.

FCA will meet Friday at 7 am in room A123. Everyone is invited.

We've got spirit yes we do, if you've got spirit we want you! We are looking for those interested in wearing the mascot costume at our home activities. If you think you've got what it takes and you can commit to a couple nights a week to entertain at home events, then you must sign up and try out. Please stop by Mrs. Allens room in 103 or Tami Davis' office in 209 by Friday Oct. 3rd. to sign up.

Oct. 9th the Health Express will be here doing sports physicals for $10.00. Sign up now in the nurse's office.

Pumpkin Fest: Volunteers are needed for this year’s event, which is October 10th, 11th, and 12th. Please see Mrs. Arambula in the Counseling Center.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Hyde Elementary needs volunteers to help with their school carnival on Friday, October 3rd 4:00 to 7:00 pm. Check with the A+ Office in the Benton Library for details.

Juniors, as participants of the My Success Event last year, you are eligible for a My Success Event Scholarship. There are at least 16- $500 scholarships available. There are even some colleges that are going to have matching scholarships for students receiving the MSE scholarship. So, this could mean $1000 for some students. The scholarship application is available at: http://www.mysuccessevent.com/ and is due Nov. 7th. See Mrs. Nelson or Mrs. Arambula if you have any questions.

A+ SCHOOLS PROGRAM: A+ tutor training will be Thursday, October 2nd at 2:50 p.m. in room A3. Please remember that tutors must attend one training. If you have any questions, stop by the A+ Office in the library.

The wellness clinic is scheduled for Tues. Oct 14th 7-10:30 AM. See the nurse to schedule your apt. the cost is $10.00.

Apple Seed grant forms are available and are being accepted in our office. The deadline is October 3, 2008. Hard copies of the application form are going out to the buildings in the inter-school mail today. Teachers may also access the form on the SJSD website, under SJSD Foundation, Applications.

Teams of teachers applying may not consist of more than three people and one of the team must be identified as the lead teacher, responsible for purchase orders and final summaries. Also, counselors and librarians may co-apply when teamed with one or more classroom teachers.
