FRESHMAN GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYERS: Please have your uniforms turned in to Coach Bosch in Room 209 by Friday, March 13th. If you are interested in the summer program sign up with Coach Goodwin in the gym.

B-CLUB SHAKERBOARD FUNDRAISER will be Saturday, March 14th 12-5 p.m. 10% of the sales will be donated to the Benton B-Club. Tell your friends and family to come to Little Ceasars Pizza at 22nd & Mitchell. Support Benton and eat some Pizza Pizza!

BENTLEY THE BENTON MASCOT tryouts will be March 16th - 18th. If you are interested in trying out, please come by room 209 and pick up a packet. Any questions see Mrs. Tami Davis.

SPECIAL OLYMPICS BASKETBALL JAMBOREE will be at Benton on Monday, March 16th at 6:00 pm. Cost to enter is $1.50 or bring a canned good and get in for $1.00. The kids would love to see you there!

AUDITIONS for a student directed one-act play will take place on Monday, March 16th and Tuesday, March 17th at 3:00 in the auditorium. Everyone is welcome to audition, no experience is necessary. Please see Mrs. Schultz in room 102 if you have any questions.


ATTENTION SENIORS - JOSTENS will be at school on Tuesday, March 17th,during lunch to deliver graduation products. Be sure to bring the balance due.

A+ TUTOR TRAINING will be Wednesday, March 18th at 2:50 p.m. in the Benton Library. Any questions, stop by the A+ Office.

CARDINAL DANCE SQUAD sign-ups are now being accepted for the 2009 school year. Try-outs will be March 26th. Please pick up your packet in the attendance office from Mrs. Silvey.

MR. BHS COMPETITION, sponsored by the Benton prom committee will be on Wednesday April 8th from 6 - 9 p.m. Mark your calendar because you will NOT want to miss it.

SJYSA is sponsoring a spring soccer league for high school age players. Cost is $50 and includes 8 games, t-shirt, supplemental insurance and registration fee. Games are played Sunday afternoons at the Riverside Complex. Registration deadline is March 13th . For more information, contact Coach Milbourn in the Library or visit the website at sjysa .org

SENIORS: For the next 6 weeks, the majority of due dates for scholarships will occur. The following offerings will select multiple Benton winners:
1. Southside Rotary was due last Friday, but you can still turn the application in this week or Monday at the latest.
2. Liebling, Paul and McGlothlan Foundations give a lot of scholarships. The initial deadlilne was Thursday, March 12th. But I will extend that due date until March 19th. Remember: Liebling is for students with financial need, Paul is for students pursuing a health care career, and McGlothlan is for a church-related school. The application is the same for all three. See the tip sheet on shared files in PrepHQ for more information. If you don't have Internet access, see Mrs. Arambula or me for a paper copy, or bring a flash drive and we can download it. UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI, COLUMBIA Medical School is offering an exciting summer experience for juniors interested in medicine. The Mini Medical School is July 5-9 or July 12-16. Selection is not determined by ACT or GPA. Applications are due by March 15th. Please see Mrs. Arambula if you would like more information.

MISSOURI LEADERSHIP is seeking sophomores that represent the potential of Benton's student body, The seminar is from June 5th to 7th at the University of Central Missouri campus in Warrensburg. It is also FREE! The deadline for nominations is March 15th. If you would like to be considered please sign up in the Counseling Center.

HILLYARD TECHNICAL SCHOOL offers great training in several career areas and it is covered by A+. Monday, March 18th there will be an Allied Health Tour from 7:30 to 10:45 at Hillyard. Students will be required to use this as a college visit day. See Mrs. Arambula.

INTERESTED IN EMS or FIREFIGHTER program at Hillyards? Please see your counselor. Hillyards has a few openings and are willing to take students that are only interested in taking one of the two classes.

US MILITARY ACADEMY is having a leaders’ seminar for juniors May 30-June 5 or June 6-12 at West Point. Cost is $325 plus transportation to West Point. Application due April 1st. Apply online at www.admissions.usma.edu.

2009 SUMMER DRIVER EDUCATION Course Registration is Friday, April 3rd at 7:00 a.m. in the atrium of Leah Spratt Hall on the MWSU campus. Contact Patty Kuechler at 271-4115, Alicia Otto at 271-4110, www.missouriwestern.edu or Mrs.Arambula in the Counseling Center.

COLLEGES VISITING BENTON: Any student interested in attending needs to sign up in the counseling office by the end of the day prior to the visit.
