PROM COMMITTEE meeting for this week has been postponed until next Wednesday, March 11th.

TRACK and FIELD Practice for boys and girls will be at 3:00 everyday during the season. If you have any questions contact Coach Kimble, Coach Allen, Coach Dickkut, or Coach Sardo.

BTI – BENTON TEEN INSTITUTE
When: March 6 - 7
Time: 7 pm to 7 am
Cost: $12
Who: Any BHS student in good standing
What: Fun event in a drug-free environment
Why: To get together with friends and staff to get to know each other and have FUN

CHEERLEADING tryouts for the 2009-2010 school year will be held March 9th thru March 13th. For forms and information please see Mrs. Allen in Room 103.

A+ TUTOR TRAINING will be Tuesday morning, March 10th at 7:00 a .m. in the Benton Library.

BENTON LITERARY MAGAZINE is taking submissions until March 16th. Send your submissions to bentonlitmag@gmail.com or to Ms. Snyder in Room 205. Check out our website at bentonlitmag.ning.com.

BENTLEY THE BENTON MASCOT tryouts will be March 16th - 18th. If you are interested in trying out, please come by room 209 and pick up a packet. Any questions see Mrs. Tami Davis.

CARDINAL DANCE SQUAD sign-ups are now being accepted for the 2009 school year. Try-outs will be March 26th. Please pick up your packet in the attendance office from Mrs. Silvey.

MR. BHS COMPETITION, sponsored by the Benton prom committee will be on Wednesday April 8th from 6 - 9 p.m. Mark your calendar because you will NOT want to miss it.

FCA meets every Friday in A123 at 7:00 a.m.

Registration information for the 2009 Summer Driver Education Course is now available. Registration is scheduled for Friday, April 3rd at 7:00 a.m.in the atrium of Leah Spratt Hall on the MWSU campus. University of Missouri – St. Louis would like to invite Benton seniors to UMSL Days. The event is this Saturday, March 7th from 11:00 until 3:00. This is the perfect opportunity to tour the resident halls and campus as well as visit with university faculty. To register go to www.umsl.edu

Interested in working as a lifeguard or cashier for the City of St. Joseph Pools? The manager for the city pools is going to be speaking with students on March 16th during seminar. Please sign up in the Counseling Center.

The University of Missouri-Columbia Medical School is offering an exciting summer experience for juniors interested in medicine. The Mini Medical School is July 5-9 or July 12-16. Selection is not determined by ACT or GPA. Applications are due by March 15th. Please see Mrs. Arambula if you would like more information.

The Greater Kansas City United States Service Academy workshop is Thursday, March 5th at 7:00 p.m. at Lee's Summit High School Lecture Hall. 9th, 10th, and 11th graders in the top 20% of their class and interested in attending a military academy after graduation should attend.

COLLEGES VISITING BENTON: Any student interested in attending needs to sign up in the counseling office by the end of the day prior to the visit.

HILLYARD TECHNICAL SCHOOL offers great training in several career areas and it is covered by A+. Monday, March 16th there will be an Allied Health Tour from 7:30 to 10:45 at Hillyard. Students will be required to use this as a college visit day. See Mrs. Arambula for a permission slip.

CPOD is a free program at Linn State Technical College June 7-12. The leadership program will help students learn about career opportunities in computer field.

The US Military Academy is having a leaders’ seminar for juniors May 30-June 5 or June 6-12 at West Point. Cost is $325 plus transportation to West Point. Application due April 1st. Apply online at www.admissions.usma.edu.
