STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:
If anyone has a clothing rack that Lavell Rucker can borrow. It is for the FREE Prom dresses. The rack would be kept in the counselors break room and would be returned the week after Prom. The School has collected approximately 20 dresses that need to brought and displayed for the girls. If you don't have a clothing rack but have something else in mind to display the dresses, please see Mrs. Rucker in the Counseling Center.
Students interested in either the EMS or Firefighter program at Hillyards please see your counselor. Hillyards has a few openings and are willing to take students that are only interested in taking one of the two classes.
FRESHMAN GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYERS:
Please have your uniforms turned into Coach Bosch in room 209 but the end of this week. Also, if you are interested in the summer program you need to sign up with Coach Goodwin in the gym.
SJYSA is sponsoring a spring soccer league for high school age players. Cost is $50 and includes 8 games, t-shirt, supplemental insurance and registration fee. Games are played Sunday afternoons at the Riverside Complex. Registration deadline is March 13th . For more information, contact Coach Milbourn in the Library or visit the website at sjysa .org

The B-Club Shakerboard Fundraiser will be this Saturday, March 14th, 2009 between the hours of 12-5 p.m. 10% of the sales will be donated to the Benton B-Club. Tell your friends and family to come Little Ceasars Pizza on 22nd & Mitchell and buy a pizza/pizzas. Support Benton and eat some Pizza Pizza!
The University of Missouri-Columbia Medical School is offering an exciting summer experience for juniors interested in medicine. The Mini Medical School is July 5-9 or July 12-16. Selection is not determined by ACT or GPA. Applications are due by March 15th. Please see Mrs. Arambula if you would like more information.
The Missouri Leadership Seminar is seeking sophomores that represent the potential of Benton's student body, The seminar is from June 5th to 7th at the University of Central Missouri campus in Warrensburg. It is also FREE! The deadline for nominations is March 15th. If you would like to be considered please sign up in the Counseling Center.
The Special Olympics basketball jamboree will be held here at Benton next Monday at 6:00 pm. Cost to enter is $1.00 and a canned good or $1.50.

Auditions for a student directed one-act play will take place on Monday, March 16th and Tuesday, March 17th at 3:00 in the auditorium. Everyone is welcome to audition, no experience is necessary. Please see Mrs. Schultz in room 102 if you have any questions.
Interested in working as a lifeguard or cashier for the City of St. Joseph Pools? The manager for the city pools is going to be speaking with students on March 16th during seminar. Please sign up in the Counseling Center.

BENTLEY THE BENTON MASCOT tryouts will be March 16th - 18th. If you are interested in trying out, please come by room 209 and pick up a packet. Any questions see Mrs. Tami Davis.
This is a reminder that Jostens will be at school on Tuesday, March 17, 2009 during lunch to deliver graduation products to your senior class. All students have been sent a reminder of their balance due and delivery date.
A+ TUTOR TRAINING will be Wednesday, March 18th at 2:50 p.m. in the Benton Library. Any questions, stop by the A+ Office.
HILLYARD TECHNICAL SCHOOL offers great training in several career areas and it is covered by A+. Monday, March 18th there will be an Allied Health Tour from 7:30 to 10:45 at Hillyard. Students will be required to use this as a college visit day. See Mrs. Arambula for a permission slip.
CARDINAL DANCE SQUAD sign-ups are now being accepted for the 2009 school year. Try-outs will be March 26th. Please pick up your packet in the attendance office from Mrs. Silvey.
The US Military Academy is having a leaders’ seminar for juniors May 30-June 5 or June 6-12 at West Point. Cost is $325 plus transportation to West Point. Application due April 1st. Apply online at www.admissions.usma.edu.
Registration information for the 2009 Summer Driver Education Course is now available. Registration is Friday, April 3rd at 7:00 a.m. in the atrium of Leah Spratt Hall on the MWSU campus. MR. BHS COMPETITION, sponsored by the Benton prom committee will be on Wednesday April 8th from 6 - 9 p.m. Mark your calendar because you will NOT want to miss it.
