STUDENT ANNOUNCEMENTS:

ATTENTION STUDENTS: Warm weather is on the way and the St. Joseph School District dress code will be enforced by Benton Administration and Faculty. Please dress appropriately or you will be required to change.

CONGRATULATIONS to the following students for their success at the District FBLA contest held in Maryville earlier this month:
Jacob Gunter--1st Place Networking Concepts (qualifies him for state competition in April); Kerstyn Bolton, Blayr Bolton and Brittany Beaver--3rd Place Entrepreneurship; Jayse Musser--4th Place Networking Concepts; Jacob Gunter--4th Place Technology Concepts; Rob Hillyar--4th Place Business Communications; and Shandis Cruz and Taylor Woodruff--5th Place Business Ethics. Thanks for your hard work and representing Benton well.

PROM SIGN UPS will be each morning from 7:00 until 7:30 a.m. in the main lobby and after school until 3:30 in room 209 until April 3d.. Everyone going to prom will need to be signed up. If you did not receive an invitation stop by before school or after school and talk to Ms. Misner or Ms Davis.

MR. BHS COMPETITORS, you will be receiving a Bio sheet to fill out and return to Mrs. Misner or Ms Davis. We would like to meet with all the competitors Monday night March 23rd at 6 p.m. to collect the bio sheets and take pictures for the program. Please remind your coach or sponsor to have your entry fee paid. We will also go over the basics of the competition.

JUNIORS: The "Getting Ready for Your Senior Year" workshop is this Wednesday, March 18th from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Please remind your parents to attend.

LAST FBLA MEETING for this year will be Wednesday, March 18th at 7:10 am. You must be present to receive field trip forms, scholarship information,and Missouri Business Week entry forms. You won't want to miss this meeting!

A+ TUTOR TRAINING will be Wednesday, March 18th at 2:50 p.m. in the Benton Library. Any questions, stop by the A+ Office.

MR. BHS COMPETITION, sponsored by the Benton prom committee will be on Wednesday April 8th from 6 - 9 p.m. Mark your calendar because you will NOT want to miss it.

PROGRESSIVE EMPLOYMENT will be at Benton on Thursday, March 19th to speak with seniors about employment opportunities. Employees work with disabled adults that need assistance with daily activities, sometimes this might involve driving to different locations. Pay is $9.00 an hour and possible insurance benefits. Please see Mrs. Arambula in the Counseling Center if you have more questions.

SENIORS: For the next 6 weeks, the majority of due dates for scholarships will occur. The following offerings will select multiple Benton winners:
Liebling, Paul and McGlothlan Foundations give a lot of scholarships. The initial deadlilne was Thursday, March 12th. But I will extend that due date until March 19th. Remember: Liebling is for students with financial need, Paul is for students pursuing a health care career, and McGlothlan is for a church-related school. The application is the same for all three. See the tip sheet on shared files in PrepHQ for more information. If you don't have Internet access, see Mrs. Arambula or me for a paper copy, or bring a flash drive and we can download it. INTERESTED IN EMS or FIREFIGHTER program at Hillyards? Please see your counselor. Hillyards has a few openings and are willing to take students that are only interested in taking one of the two classes.

US MILITARY ACADEMY is having a leaders’ seminar for juniors May 30-June 5 or June 6-12 at West Point. Cost is $325 plus transportation to West Point. Application due April 1st. Apply online at www.admissions.usma.edu.

2009 SUMMER DRIVER EDUCATION Course Registration is Friday, April 3rd at 7:00 a.m. in the atrium of Leah Spratt Hall on the MWSU campus. Contact Patty Kuechler at 271-4115, Alicia Otto at 271-4110, www.missouriwestern.edu or Mrs.Arambula in the Counseling Center.

COLLEGES VISITING BENTON: Any student interested in attending needs to sign up in the counseling office by the end of the day prior to the visit.

CPOD is a free program at Linn State Technical College June 7-12. The leadership program will help students learn about career opportunities in computer field.
